چکیده
Multimedia communication has affected various areas of people’s life. Correspondingly numerous standards, communication technology and networks of multimedia from different vendors are evolving rapidly. The H.323 protocol suite was specified by ITU is a main technology for real-time communication of audio, video, and data packet switched networks. It also specifies the interoperability between the packet switched networks and circuit switched networks. It was reviewed that the history H.323 protocol suite and the architecture of H.323 system in this paper first. Then the signaling and connection procedures of H.323 systems were presented. Finally it was discussed that the new features in H.323 version 4 and features that are under developing or to be specified for the future release of H.323.
